University of Illinois Arboretum Robert Milani

Robert Milani, a resident of Deerfield, joined the Chalet in 1994. A 1987 graduate of the University of Illinois, Robert received a BLA degree in Landscape Architecture and a BS degree in Ornamental Horticulture.

Since 1999, Robert has been a senior landscape architect heading up a team of three designers, one construction supervisor and nine installation crews. In addition to growing his team, his client list and his clients’ gardens, Robert extends his expertise to helping Chalet grow. He coordinates and contributes to internal committees including Recruiting, Quality Assurance, Awards and Public Relations.

Robert is one of the few Illinois Certified Nursery Professionals “Pro of the Year;” he obtained the accolade in 2004. He is a multiple winner of Design/Construction and Maintenance awards from the ILCA, our Illinois Landscape Contractors’ Association, PLANET the Professional Landcare Network, and the coveted Illinois Green Industry Association Awards.

Additionally, Robert leads of team of landscape architects and designers from various firms as coordinator for the University of Illinois Heritage Garden; a pro-bono project creating a garden celebrating the numerous accomplishments from green industry professionals of the state of Illinois.

Robert has also been a featured media resource, lecturer and writer. Robert’s articles have appeared in a variety of trade publications and their websites. In addition to lecturing, he has and his work have been featured on Lou Manfredini’s “House Smarts” nationally syndicated television show several times, and frequently on Chicago broadcast media and in both consumer media outlets and trade publications.

He is an Illinois registered Licensed Landscape Architect, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and an Illinois Certified Nurseryman in woody plants and perennials.

Robert currently enjoys gardening, golf, fishing, hiking and traveling.
