After the installation of the Azumaya in 2014, the surrounding area developed considerably. In (2018?), a sidewalk was installed leading from the bridge to the Azumaya which would become the first of many sidewalks to be adorned with bamboo brushing and inlaid with stone patterns by Shozo Sato. Zan’s Garden is also located off this main walk. The beds of the walk are planted with an Asian influence with azaleas, Japanese maples, junipers, dwarf conifers, and large, beautiful stones to complement the plantings. In 2021, another section of the walk was completed that connected the new Hosta Garden Boardwalk to the Azumaya
